Just read the quote on the back of the booklet it rings true even today. Released five years from the end of the 20th century, it somehow couldn't be more timeless. Different Class has a surprisingly diverse tapestry to it, from art rock to more conventional indie numbers, and undeniable early Britpop. 'Mis-shapes' and 'Pencil Skirt' is yet more of Cocker at his most debauched, but it makes for some pretty catchy tracks, with 'Underwear' proving the same. 'Something Changed' is a really neat track from Pulp, and their psychotic, mysterious, Bond-esque theme in 'I Spy' is still one of the band's best - all these years later. But Different Class is so much more than that. Same goes with the crunchy guitar and jolting techno of 'Disco 2000'. 'Common People', though played a lot, just is such an important song, and no track better encapsulates a whole people. I want us to become one of the top employer in our industry and be a great company.There are definitely Britpop bands I prefer - Oasis, for one - but I do think Different Class by Pulp is the genre's definitive moment.
